Getting Started
What services does American Writers Club provide?
American Writers Club provides book ghostwriting, editing, proofreading, publishing support, formatting, book cover design, audiobook production, author websites, book trailers, script writing and author marketing services.
Can I use one service without buying a complete publishing package?
Yes. Services can be scoped individually. For example, you may only need editing, proofreading, formatting or cover design rather than an end-to-end publishing project.
How do I know which service my manuscript needs?
Start with the current condition of the manuscript and your next goal. A rough or incomplete draft may need ghostwriting or developmental editing, while a polished manuscript may only need copyediting, proofreading, formatting and publishing preparation.
How do I request a quote?
Use the contact form or call 571-504-7537. Include your manuscript type, approximate word count, current stage, desired services and any deadline so the scope can be assessed accurately.
Ghostwriting & Editing
How does book ghostwriting work?
A ghostwriter develops the manuscript from your ideas, interviews, notes, outline or draft while you remain the credited author. Projects typically move through discovery, outlining, milestone drafts, feedback and revisions.
Will a ghostwritten book sound like me?
Voice matching is developed through interviews, writing samples, preferences and feedback. The purpose is to create a manuscript that communicates your ideas in a voice you are comfortable publishing under your name.
What is the difference between developmental editing, line editing and copyediting?
Developmental editing focuses on structure and big-picture effectiveness. Line editing improves flow, tone and sentence-level expression. Copyediting focuses on grammar, consistency, usage and style.
Do I need proofreading after editing?
Usually yes. Proofreading is a final quality-control stage after substantive editing and ideally after layout, when the manuscript should no longer require major rewriting.
Publishing & Rights
What does your book publishing support include?
Publishing support can include manuscript preparation, cover design, print and eBook formatting, metadata, platform setup, ISBN guidance and distribution preparation. The exact scope depends on the manuscript and publishing route.
Do I need my own ISBN?
It depends on how you want the publisher of record presented and which distribution route you choose. We can explain the practical options so you can make an informed decision.
Can you help publish on Amazon KDP and other platforms?
We can prepare publication files and provide setup support for major self-publishing and distribution platforms. Account eligibility, review and platform policies remain controlled by the individual providers.
Who owns the copyright to my book?
Ownership should be stated clearly in your service agreement. Authors should review the contract before work begins and keep copies of the final manuscript, design and production files delivered to them.
Design & Production
What files do I need for book formatting?
A stable manuscript is best. For print, the trim size and target printer or platform should also be known. Images, tables, special fonts and other complex content should be identified before formatting begins.
Is eBook formatting different from print formatting?
Yes. Print layout is fixed to a page size, while most eBooks are reflowable and adapt to the reader’s device. The same manuscript normally needs separate preparation for each format.
When should I finalize my book cover?
Cover concepts can start early, but final print artwork usually needs the confirmed trim size, page count and printer template to calculate the spine and full-wrap dimensions correctly.
What is needed to produce an audiobook?
A stable final manuscript, pronunciation notes, narration direction and target platform requirements are useful starting points. The audio then moves through recording, editing, quality review and mastering.
Marketing & Author Platform
Can book marketing guarantee sales or bestseller status?
No. No responsible marketing provider can guarantee sales, rankings or bestseller status. Campaigns can improve reach, presentation and promotional execution, but outcomes depend on the book, audience, offer, competition and market conditions.
When should I start marketing my book?
It is usually useful to start planning before publication so the author website, retailer pages, email list, launch content and outreach materials are ready when the book becomes available.
What should an author website include?
Most author websites benefit from a clear biography, individual book pages, contact or media information and a way for readers to join an email list. Events, blog content and speaking information can be added when relevant.
Can you guarantee podcast or radio interviews?
No. Producers and hosts control their own guest selection. Strong positioning, relevant topic angles and professional media materials can improve outreach quality but cannot guarantee bookings.
Confidentiality, Pricing & Timelines
Can I request an NDA?
Yes. If confidentiality is important to the project, ask about an NDA before sharing sensitive manuscript or business information.
How are projects priced?
Pricing depends on scope, manuscript length, service level, complexity, file condition and deadline. A manuscript sample or project brief usually allows a more accurate quote than a flat one-size-fits-all price.
How long does a book project take?
Timelines vary significantly. Editing a finished manuscript may take weeks, while ghostwriting or full publishing production can take several months depending on length, complexity and revision rounds.
Can I request revisions?
Revision expectations should be defined in the project scope. Collaborative services such as ghostwriting, design and script writing normally include agreed feedback stages before final delivery.
